The Loaded Ladle was founded in response to corporate exclusivity contracts, which had an unfair monopoly over food services in the Dal Students’ Union Building. We recognize the various inequities and systemic dynamics under capitalism which contribute to poverty, monetary emergencies, and unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to: racism, classism, sexism, ableism, fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, and many many others.
The Loaded Ladle bursary program is intended for people in emergency situations, from communities who historically have had limited access to financial support, or both. A non-exhaustive list of such communities could be: Indigenous People, people of colour, queer and trans people, working-class people, women, single parents, disabled people, and others.
Bursaries range from $20 – $100 depending on need, availability, and urgency of individual’s situations. Applicants may be given a lower amount than requested, depending on number of applications. We cannot guarantee that each applicant will be given a bursary, but all applicants will be notified of their bursary status.
