The Loaded Ladle is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, staff people, and many dedicated volunteers.
The board is made up of Dalhousie students and community members. The Board is elected at the Loaded Ladle Annual General Meeting every Spring, and is responsible for strategic planning and visioning for the Ladle, helping cook and serve meals, approving spending and the budget, proposing projects, and staff coordination, including hiring and contract revisions. Learn more about joining the board.
The Ladle currently employs 6 part-time staff people in the roles of Kitchen Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Solidarity Serving Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, and Programming and Communications Coordinator, and Sexton Campus Coordinator
We will cook and serve 200+ meals 4 days per week, Tuesdays through Fridays, in the Dalhousie Students’ Union Building. Our cooking and serving space is on the 1st floor of the SUB, near the Grawood Lounge. In 2018, we begin piloting regular weekly service to the Sexton (downtown) campus, housing the Schools of Engineering and Planning & Architecture.
Along with our regular servings, we also provide solidarity servings for various events, groups, rallies, and meetings that align with us politically. Read more about solidarity servings.
There are many ways to get involved with The Loaded Ladle, including volunteering, proposing projects, joining the board, or just eating the food! Read more about how to get involved with the Ladle
