Create a poster for the Ladle

We are looking for two posters for the Ladle for the month of October:

  1. Ladle is a Volunteer-run Kitchen

  2. Kitchen Guidelines for Volunteers

Ideally looking for submissions this month so we can share this info with the public as soon as possible!

1. Ladle is a volunteer-run kitchen:

A poster to post along the line-up for our servings to remind that the Ladle is a volunteer run kitchen. Although it does not need to be word by word, the poster should reflect the following sentiment/follow these guidelines:

  • We were found by a group of students who believes that food systems should be rooted in care and solidarity and who started serving free food on campus as a way to create alternatives on campus. Our meals depend on how many volunteers are helping us cook that day and how we are showing up - so sometimes we are late, or things are imperfect. Please keep this in mind if we are taking a bit longer that day and come in and give a hand if you have the capacity to <3

  • Feel like there should be more student-run food services on campus? Sick of waiting in line for an hour for the only free & accessible food on campus? Campaign for better food on campus! These are the folks working on food stuff DSUSO, King's Food Sec, DUGS, DSU Food Bank

  • Imagery around food, care, solidarity to along would be ideal

  • We’ll provide you with logos to add!

  • Can be made to fit an A4 paper or any dimension preferred!

2. Kitchen Guidelines for Volunteers

We are mostly looking for coherent graphics to go with the following guidelines:

  • Subheading: Wash hands

    • Text: for at least 20 seconds - every time you touch something that's not food!

    • Suitable graphic: eg. sink pic

  • Subheading: Masks, apron, hat

    • Text: ensure you are wearing this 3 when interacting with food! long hair? tie it back

    • Suitable graphic: eg. a person wearing all 3

  • Subheading: Sanitizing

    • Text: a 2-step procedure; (1) wipe surfaces, remove all food (2) spray sanitizer; wait 60 seconds, and wipe with paper towel

    • Suitable graphic: eg. sanitizer bottle?

  • Subheading: Working together

    • Text: do not assume anything on behalf of people; respect each other's needs, boundaries, identity

    • Suitable graphic

  • Subheading: Take breaks

    • Text: Refuse tasks you are not comfortable with; take break when you need to; drink lots of water!

    • Suitable graphic
